While sharp tailored suits are always a great choice for formal clothing, slouchy suiting is the mantra for a modish semi-formal look. We are not just talking about over sized coats with distinct shoulders but loose sleeve, an overall baggy effect and a very relaxed silhouette. While you must be thinking that it has a very off-the-cut vibe I consider it a way of power dressing.

The best thing about slouchy suits are that they can be worn in almost every weather and pairing it with the right clothing gives a fresh look each time you sport it. With just the right colors and accessories we can modify the whole casual muse into a very powerful one.

Here’s my guide to slouchy suiting.

The first thing that one should keep in mind is the colours that you will be opting for. If you want to go minimal on accessorizing choosing a brighter color is the best option for you. Colours like reds, pinks, yellows, oranges create a bold and dramatic effect and do not need a lot of accessorizing. While sporting pastel shades make sure to use a statement accessory.

Second would be the type of fabric you will be choosing. Picking silk or satin suits may seem more glamourous but more stiff fabrics are the celebs favorites. On warmer days go for thinner fabrics pair it with a monotone crop top some nice matching heels and sunglasses carry this look with a chic bun and you’re good to go. For colder days pair the suit with sweaters or turtlenecks some nice boots and sleek hairstyle.

If you want your outfit to be on a more casual side pair it with a graphic t shirt, a belt and some cool chunky sneakers.

Going for an evening party and thinking stuffing up clothing under the suit is too much to handle? Go bare underneath the suit. This makes your whole look sultry yet very put together. Accessorize with statement earrings and rings and a clutch. For an even more dramatic look try wearing the coat off-the-shoulders and play with proportions.

Wear it over a bralette or a tube top for a bold look.

Don’t get scared of incorporating different cuts and patterns while shopping for suits or while getting the tailored trying out various silhouettes and forms never goes in vain. Try taking smaller steps like cutting the pants and making them ankle length, how about a disproportionate collar or hem of the suit? As long as you are confident with experimenting you are doing great.

Another way to jazz up the suit is to use printed fabrics. It is the easiest way to make a statement without putting in a lot of effort. Try using various available prints or if you are willing to spend more make your own print.

Bored of wearing the suit together? Then don’t. Pair the coat with a fitted dress or the pants with another graphic tee or an elegant blouse or a bodysuit.

And last but not the least whatever you wear, sport it with confidence and be comfortable in your skin.

That’s it for this post. I promise to keep coming up with more fun content till then,

Keep binging.
